The first time they’re left alone together at Kurt’s house also happens to fall on their one month anniversary.
Finn had called Kurt before he left the parking lot saying that he was heading over to Rachel’s house for dinner and wouldn’t be back until late. Then, when Kurt had pulled up to the house with Blaine in the car behind him, he had been surprised to see that his fathers car wasn’t in the driveway.

notes: i wrote this because HAPPY! wish fulfillment future!fic about kurt & blaine being middle-aged and married and the parents of two teenage daughters with ridiculous names.“Got any… queens?” Blaine asks Margaret Mae, peering at her over the top of his cards.
“Go fish.” She sighs and flips her hair over her shoulder. “Do you think they’re going to come down sometime this century?”
Blaine shrugs. “Probably. This is your dad we’re talking about though, so we may not see them again until he’s completed a total overhaul of Roxanne’s closet.”
Roxanne, fourteen and defiant, had come downstairs in a faded sweatshirt and jeans and announced that she was ready to go to the football game. Kurt had taken one horrified look at her, put down his glass of wine, and marched her up to her room. For the last twenty minutes the dulcet sounds of them arguing over “appropriate clothing to wear in public, Roxanne, I don’t care how you dress as long as you don’t dress like a hobo” had been echoing down the stairs.

Blaine smells like autumn.
It’s probably got a lot to do with the pile of leaves he’s sprawled in, a few individual ones sticking wildly in the soft, less-gelled edges of his hair, but there’s also something indefinably warm about his scent. It reminds Kurt of pumpkiny coffee drinks and damp earth, of apple orchards and wrapping up in a luxurious and fashionable scarf before going outside, of knowing the house will be warm when he get home, even if he’s cold at the moment.
