Summary: Kurt and Blaine meet whilst playing X Box Live.
Author’s notes: I have never, in my life, played Call of Duty. My research consisted of bugging my brother for a half hour and watching videos on YouTube. (The things we do for the sake of art.)

Finn had badgered him for over an hour to play some stupid dumb Xbox game. He had begged and pleaded and bargained and made ridiculous promises to do all of Kurt’s chores for a year until Kurt, if only to stop Finn pestering him, had reluctantly agreed to play.
“Guys we have our fourth player.” Finn announces as he pushes a set of headphones on his head and drops to the floor in front of his tv.
“Yes!” A strange voice cheers as Kurt crosses Finn’s room and takes the offered headphones from Finn’s outstretched hand.
He looks at them and frowns, “Urm…”
Finn glances at him briefly and rolls his eyes, “Just put them on dude.”
Kurt fixes him with a glare and grumbles under his breath as he tentatively places the headphones on his head, “Do we really have to wear these stupid things?” He pats at his once perfectly styled hair, trying to salvage it, “They’re ruining my hair!”
Finn rolls his eyes again and shoves a controller into Kurt’s chest, “You look fine.” And without looking away from the screen he adds, “They suite you dude.”
Kurt wrinkles his nose and kicks a pair of discarded pants out of the way before taking a seat beside Finn, “Don’t humour me…dude.”
Kurt loves his new big brother, he does. As much as Kurt adored being an only child and all the glorious privileges that came with it - the extra closet space, the bigger bedroom, no long queues for the bathroom– having some company, besides his Dad, is sort of nice. Finn’s Mum is amazing and Finn’s ok Kurt supposes.
Finn pointedly ignores him and instead begins entering in details and navigating through a series of pages on the screen with a practiced ease. He spends way too much time on this thing, Kurt concedes.
“Hi Kurt, thanks for doing this!” Mike, a mutual friend from school, says and Kurt smiles.
“No problem Mike.” He replies, folding his legs under himself and turning the controller over in his hands to inspect it, it weighs less than he expected. “So what are we playing?”
“Call of Duty.”
“You’ve never played?” The strange voice sounds again, low and husky and a little breathless. Kurt pulls his bottom lip between his teeth and looks to Finn who, too concentrated on setting things up, only glances at him briefly.
“What?” He mouths completely oblivious to the fact that he has yet to introduce Kurt to this complete stranger.
Kurt reminds himself that he loves his step brother even when he’s clueless.
Kurt rolls his eyes and looks back to the screen, “No I haven’t…”
“Blaine…” The boy blurts, “I- my name’s Blaine….B-blaine or B or Blaine.” When he, Blaine, laughs it sounds breathy and nervous, a soft lilting cadence like a gentle major arpeggio, “It’s nice to finally meet you Kurt, I- I’ve heard a lot about you….” He laughs again and rushes to add, “Good things, I promise.”
